Philosophy
Our goal is to provide a neutral, objective platform for evaluating display performance. Unlike other tools that may rely on heavy frameworks or compressed video assets, DisplayTest generates patterns programmatically using raw HTML5 Canvas or SVG where possible. This ensures bit-perfect output that respects your source signal.
Browser-Based Limitations
Important Disclaimer
While browser-based testing is convenient, it is subject to the OS color management pipeline (ICC profiles, tone mapping) and the browser's own rendering engine limitations. These tests are best used for relative comparisons and visual inspection, rather than absolute hardware calibration.
Test Standards
- SDR Standards: Targeting sRGB / Rec.709 gamma 2.2 or 2.4.
- HDR Standards: ST.2084 (PQ) curve compliance where supported.
- Motion: Frame-rate independent rendering for smooth motion assessment.
